Municipality recruitment scam refers to the irregular recruitment process of various staffs, for example, clerks and sweeper, drivers, peons and others in various municipalities of West Bengal. CBI alleged that all the twenty location are in connection with irregular recruitment process for municipal jobs.
The recruitment process was mainly based on recruiting people with no citizenship proof, it creating big scam with in various municipalities of West Bengal, as per sources and allegations.

The alleged scam relates to irregularities in the recruitment of clerks, sweepers, peons, and drivers, in various municipalities in West Bengal
According to report by TOI, Central Bureau of Investigation firstly started search operation from today morning. CBI raided 14 illegal location during the morning time. Search operation occurred in main town areas like South Dum, Panihati, Kanchrapara and Dum Dum.
"CBI also raided office of the State of Urban Development Department in Salt Lake Area" said an official with the PTI. As per the allegations made by CBI officials, illegal recruitment for municipalities are going on including cash for jobs, appointment of personnel on the basis of corruption.
