Cyclone Mocha likely to Intensify in Bay of Bengal from May 8: Kolkata Met Department

Kolkata, West Bengal: Sanjib Bandhopadhyay, Kolkata Met Director announced Cyclone Mocha circulation has developed in the South East of Bay of Bengal on May 6 2023. On May 7, a low pressure area will form in the South East region of Bay of Bengal and it will further intensify into a depression on May 8. 

As per reports, the depression has moving towards North East region of Bay of Bengal futher it will concentrate in the Central of Bay of Bengal. The forecasted cyclone disturbance could result into winds reaching up to 60Kmph over the Southeast Region of Bay of Bengal on May 7 2023. The cyclone could lead to challenging issues sea conditions.

As per the Met reports , upcoming cyclone is named as Cyclone Mocha. The cyclone is the first one occuring in 2023 in the Bay of Bengal. The Met authorities are putting their total effort in monitoring the current situation . KMD has noticed the West Bengal residents of coastal areas to stay updated on the situation of Cyclone Mocha. Further it recommended for coastal areas residents to stay updated with latest weather bulletins and should take crucial precautions. In case of any emergency people are advised to contact the concerned local authorities for support and immediate assistance.
