Manipur, Assam: Violence spewed in Manipur, Assam during a "Tribal Solidarity March" organised by the ATSUM (All Tribal Student Union Manipur) in the torbung area of Churachandpur. The March was started for the for the protesting the demand of Meiteis, to give them "Schedule Tribe" status.
In reply to the violence, the army officials and Assam Rifles deployed to the violated area to take control on the situation. On Wednesday, the Army officials conducted Area Dominance Excercise to take control on the situation and restore law and order. The Assam government has suspended internet and connectivity service in the violated area and across state for five consecutive days. The government has imposed curfew under section 144 Crpc in the major districts of Assam.
As per the investigation reports, around 500 villagers were rescued from the violated and zone and the re- sheltered in the Assam Rifles Army bases and contingency camps. The Army soldiers conducted flag marches to control the situation out there and other citizens of the voilated area were shifted to safer places.
An operational defence spokesperson of the violated zone confirmed the flag marches are being conducted to keep the situation under control. The Army and Assam Soldiers were requisitioned on Tuesday night to control the situation, on Wednesday to the situation became under control of the Armies and on Thursday morning the Officials successfully bought peace and control over the area of the Torbung area of Churachandpur.
