"Peerless Hospital is constructing two HDU and ICU units including 50 beds in each units, in total adding 100 beds in the Hospital" said Sudipta Mitra, CEO of Peerless. Increased health consciousness and backlog of treatment deferred during COVID pandemic has resulted to the surge in demand of beds, said officials of Peerless Hospital. As per the officials, the Peerless Hospital has secured clarification from civic authorities and fire department for the construction and will apply for permission from the health departments once the construction is completed.
Another hospital at Kolkata, RN Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Science has announced of increasing OPD area due to sharp surge in footfall over the past three months. RN Tagore hospital officials said that most of the cases are particularly among Bangladeshi patients. Additional OPD chambers will be created to accommodate more consultation and the waiting area will expand, RN Tagore Institute officials said.
AMRI hospital is planning to increase the number of operations theatres after a sudden surge in surgeries cases since January 2023. Two OPs will be constructed at its Salt Lake and Dhakuria units, with the former earmarked for high-end cardiac surgeries. The hospital will also add 20-25 beds at its Mukundapur unit.
Other private hospital at Kolkata, Medica Superspecialty Hospital has commissioned a building for organ specific cancer care. As per the reports, it will housing 200 beds and state of the art oncology equipment such as a truebeam linear accelerator, Pet CT, SPECT CT, brachytherapy, nuclear medicine and iodine therapy. MS hospital has also planned to expand its facilities in the regions of Siliguri and Ranchi in the upcoming days.
