Kochi, Kerala: In a catastrophic boat accident in Kerala, 22 people lost their lives while 10 been rescued by the forces. The boat capsized incident took place in the morning of Monday somewhere between 5 to 6 AM in the Malappuram district of Kerala. Afterwards the accident, the Indian Navy's Chetak Helicopter was called in for search and rescue operation on Monday morning. While five individuals managed to swim to the shore and hence saved their life.
Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan visited the accident place and met the survivors at Tuluk Hospital in the Malappuram and expressed his condolences on Twitter. On the other hand, Kerala Health Minister Veena George held an an emergency meeting with the health officials at the office to assure proper health treatment to the injured survivors. Furthermore, Veena George ordered to speed up the post mortem process of the 22 dead in the boat capsized accident.

The Kerala State Government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 Lakh to the family of the dead victims. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed his deep condolence to the dead and injured victims. The PM announced about providing an ex-gratia of two lakhs to the next kin of the deceased from PMNRF [Prime Minister's National Relief Fund].
The incidents has resulted in a wave of sorrow and condolences across the country. The officials at the state has been directed to take affective measures and steps to assist the families of the deceased and provide necessary support to the injured. Police officials is still investigating the cause for the synk of boat at Malappuram and efforts are being taking to prevent such accidents taking place in future.
