20 April 2023, Gujarat, India: A designated court was established to accelerate the trial process of the 2002 Gujarat riot case. The court completed the proceeding on April 05, 2023, with the 69 accused standing trial out of the original 86. Seventeen accused were subsided during the course of the trial.
As of now in 2023, all accused are out on bail, the Naroda Gam massacre case involved the examination of nearly 182 prosecution affiants.
In 2002, a communal riot occurred in the Naroda Gam of Gujarat, resulting in the death of 11 members of a minority community in Gujarat state. Aftermath, a case was registered against 69 individuals including former BJP MLA Maya Kodnani, ex-Bajrang Dal head face Babu Bajrangi, and Vishvahindu Parishad leader Jaydeep Patel.
On 20 April 2023, a designated court in Ahmedabad acquitted all 69 accused in the Naroda Gam Massacre, as per the investigation sources.
