20 April 2023, India: India has officially left behind China to become the world's most populous country, in the coming days. And this is a subject of both celebration and concern, the country is going to face in the future. With a population of more than 1.3 billion people, India is facing challenges to provide, food, shelter, and other civic amenities to the citizens. India's population rise to 142.8 Billion this year in 2023, crossing China's population. The population reports have been issued by United Nations.
As per the UN's report, India's 64% of the population is between the age group of 15 and 64 years. The mentioned above age group describe as the working population. About 18 percent are between 10-19 years. Another 25 percent of the Indian population is between the age group of 0-19 years.
While a growing population can be a sign of both development and progress, it also puts massive pressure on the government to fulfilling the upcoming needs of the citizens. India's infrastructure and resources are already exploited a lot and the rise in population will only exacerbate the current situation.
