Raipur, Chhattisgarh: 10 police officers returning after completing an anti-Maoist operation, got killed by Naxal during the return travel. Including the driver and police officers died in the IED bomb blast, they were in a minivan. The location was in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, where the officers and including one driver got attacked by an IED. The incident occurred on 26 April 2023, Wednesday while the police team was returning from an anti-Maoist operation followed by intelligence reports.
As per the reports, the policeman was part of the District Reserve Guard [DRG] of the Chhattisgarh state. The officers were the local tribal force trained to combat Maoist rebels in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, which is a region known for its left-wing extremism, as per reports sources.
The massive attack marked a ten feet deep hole in the middle of the road and the vehicle was totally destroyed due to an improvised explosive attack [IED]. An investigation officer stated, the IED used in the attack almost weighs around 50 KGs.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt condolence to the families of the brave soldiers and pays tribute to the lost brave personnel. Union Minister offered all possible support to the state government of Chhattisgarh.
